2026 Plein Air Painters of Maine - Schedule May - June

When you arrive on site, please check in with the host and ask about the details regarding each location. Events are held depending on the weather and rain dates may be available but not always. Schedule is subject to change and is also posted on the Plein Air Painters of Maine Facebook Page. These events are volunteer driven and not affiliated with any particular art association.
Wednesday May 13, 2026 9 am - noon Frances Perkins Center 478 River Road, Newcastle. Grounds, gardens and trails are open year round. May 14 rain date. Host: Fran Scannell/ no rsvp.
Monday May 18 2026 9am - noon. Vaughan Woods, Hallowell. Park at the Litchfield Road Parking next to the Vaughan Homestead in Hallowell. Beautiful woodland trails with stone bridges and two magnificent waterfalls. No bathrooms in the woods, but available within a short drive. Carry out what you carry in, including painting water. Wednesday May 27, 2026 8am - 1 pm Topside Inn www.topsideinn.com, 60 McKown Street, Boothbay Harbor. Please park in the street rather than in the lot for the guests. Municipal Parking for a fee at the Town Hall/Police Station. (Drop off your gear before parking.) Fabulous waterfront view from the front lawn of the Inn. May 28 rain date. Harpswell Center, Kellogg Church, graveyards, rock walls, flowers, old homes, parking, bathrooms, Uncle Pete's General Store, Itty Bitty Coffee, all nearby. Wednesday June 17, 2026 Pemaquid Point/Lighthouse Park, Bristol. New England Water Color Society NEWS “Brushes with Nature” event open to all plein air painters. June 18 rain date. Thursday to Friday, June 25-26, Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor. Multiple viewpoints/but limited parking: Ocean Point, Spruce Point, McKown Point, Barretts Park, Downtown waterfront Whale Park. FYI only.
